How to refill a canister

Refilling our beautiful canisters is a straightforward 4-step process

  1. Log onto the Florapod and order a new bullet in whatever scent takes your fancy.

  2. Once your order arrives, take a Q-tip and clean out the remains of your old lip balm. Don’t waste the leftovers, use the Q-tip to apply it to your lips to stay fresh while you work.

  3. Open your package and gently hold the tip of the bullet with the tissue paper it is wrapped in, and gently insert the blunt end into your empty canister. It should slide in easily.

  4. Rotate the canister anti-clockwise to withdraw the fresh bullet into the canister.

Why does my lip balm feel a bit rough?

This is called bloom. Bloom happens because our balms are made with organic, unrefined Shea butter. Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree, which contains a very high percentage of a fatty acid called stearic acid (41%). Over time, the steric acid forms crystals, which is the rough texture you can feel. The crystals don’t affect the performance of our product, and they can be removed by very gently warming the balm with a hair dryer. We use Shea butter to achieve the optimal melting point, ensuring it melts slightly on your skin and not in storage. Pure beeswax is very hard and won’t melt when applied to the skin. Our friends will attest to the fact that you had to warm early versions on the heater to use them. We are researching ways to prevent crystal formation, but we have not yet found a natural solution.
